What is the best, safest and free registry cleaner for windows 7?

The best free cleaner is one called CCleaner. However, this tool is not very effective and will likely not be able to find the error that your PC has. In all honesty, it’s actually very ineffective because it’s not able to find and fix many problems that are on your system, leaving your PC with all sorts of errors left over.

This means that if you want to remove this error, you should really invest in a professional cleaner such as Registry Easy. This type of cleaner is more effective at cleaning the problems inside the registry and will be better placed at removing the errors you’re seeing. You can see this cleaner at

i have heard that clutter in your PC’s registry makes your computer slow. i need recomendations on what free registry cleaner i can download?

Cleaning the registry won’t really boost the responsiveness of your pc – always create a restore point before scanning and cleaning.

However, 3 good free tools you can use are:
Auslogics Registry Cleaner

Are there any free programs that work with Vista that would fix registry errors?

I recently ran a program called Auslogics Boostspeed and it found over 500 registry errors. I use CCleaner but that only seems to find about 5-10 each time
i checked out the reganalyzer but it seems to be a lot of work. I don’t want to do anything that would screw up the computer.

Try regalizer by the same guy who wrote Spybot – search and destroy

is it possible to fix registry errors one by one?

i ran ccleaner and found many registry errors, but my compy isn’t running THAT slow, but it does crash sometimes. is it possible to fix registry errors one by one or is it better just to wipe the HD and start from scratch. Thanks!

Hi there,

It is possible to fix registry errors one-by-one. But it can take a very long time and some registry keys are written in "hex" and can not even be read (so you will not know what they are).

If your computer is not running slow there is probably nothing wrong with the registry.

The random crashes can be caused by heat buildup, corrupted hardware driver or hardware drivers that are not compatible. Software conflicts can also cause random crashes.

First….. I would update drivers for any hardware you are using.

Second… I would open the side cover and blow out any dust that may have accumulated over time.
While the case is open carefully reach in and make sure all the cables are tight.
If you have a video card make sure it is firmly inserted into it’s slot.
Do the same thing with the ram sticks.

Before removing the case be sure the computer is unplugged and before reaching inside touch the metal in the case to discharge any static electricity buildup. Also do not touch any part of the circuit board with your fingers. (only the edges).

You also can download and run PC Wizard and it will tell you the temoeratures of the processor, motherboard and video card. PC Wizard is very handy to have to answer any questions about your hardware and software.

You can download and run Memtest86 which can check your ram memory. A bad stick of ram also can cause random computer crashes (no warning usually).
Microsoft also has a nice (free) memory diagnostics tool that I have used.

Links below for the apps mentioned above.

Hope this helps,
Al

All the ones I find promise a free fix after the scan, but none fix the errors.

Yes, Advanced System Care. Also has many other handy tools! Here is the direct link: http://download.cnet.com/Advanced-SystemCare-Free/3000-2086_4-10407614.html?tag=contentMain;contentAux

It automatically downloaded onto my low-power netbook when I downloaded something else to get rid of a virus… and now it’s making internet slow and take 20 seconds to get to another page.

Scan your system with Spyware Doctor or malwarebytes.

How do I find and fix registry errors in Windows 7?

The other night, I downloaded some programs from the internet and since then I get messages about errors on page in Yahoo! and my computer loads slower than it used to. I’m sure there’s a way to do this through Microsoft, and that’s what I’m looking for because I cannot afford to use one of those sites advertised on TV (fixmyspeed, maxmyspeed, etc.).

The Windows Registry is the master control center for your operating system and applications it runs. Corruption or overload registry issues can cause all sorts of pc performance problems, including poor application startup times, slow Windows start-up, extremely slow shut down, slow internet surfing, inability to resume from computer sleep and more.Cleaning, compacting, and optimizing your Windows registry can go a long way to dramatically speeding up your computer’s performance, start-up and shutdown speed.
