How do you get rid of PC Tools Browser Defender?

It automatically downloaded onto my low-power netbook when I downloaded something else to get rid of a virus… and now it’s making internet slow and take 20 seconds to get to another page.

Scan your system with Spyware Doctor or malwarebytes.

I have a cd called pc tools cd so how can i use this cd to format my hard drive?

please someone tell me how to do it step by step. thanks for all help.

It’s not difficult but involved. You don’t need a CD. Just do a web search for "format hard drive" and you get a ton of sites with step-by-step instructions.

CAUTION: You will lose every bit of data on your system. Be sure and back up files, programs, documents, drivers…..anything you don’t want to lose.

EDIT: You DO NOT have to have a cd to format.
You will need a boot disk and some sort of OS to install after you format.

1.Open Computer Management by clicking the Start button , clicking Control Panel, clicking System and Maintenance, clicking Administrative Tools, and then double-clicking Computer Management. If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

2.In the Navigation pane, under Storage, click Disk Management.

3.Right-click the volume that you want to format, and then click Format.

4.To format the volume with the default settings, in the Format dialog box, click OK, and then click OK again.

Download MalwareBytes Anti-malware (FREE). http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php gives links to free programmes and help. You can also ask for help there from the regulars. Alternatively this site gives info on many current malware threats http://bestfree-spyware-virus-trojan-protec.blogspot.com/

The program still opens but does not function after the main menu. How do i change the settings back to normal?

Without seeing the actual program I can’t walk you through step-by-step, but you can usually change which programs are blocked by going to your firewall in the actual security program (from the main page) and then uncheck the program.

What Can You Say about PC Tools Internet Security or Spyware Doctor With Antivirus?

Are These two security programs of PC Tools good enough for my PC? 10 points for the most informative answer. Thanks! :)

These programs aren’t spyware but they’re annoying as heck. Both require you to purchase them to even start using them to their full potential. Steer away from them.

If you want to scan for spyware and then remove it for free, go with Malwarebytes Anti-Malware.

If you want to do everything Malwarebytes does, plus keep your computer safe from spyware and other threats while you use it, get IOBit Security 360.

If you want a full-fledged antivirus, antispyware, antirootkit solution with protection virtually everywhere, check out Avast. It’s the most fully-featured (free) program available.

How does PC Tools get away with their crooked "automatic renewal license" scam?

July 8th, 2010

I got a $30 charge from PC Tools on a credit card for my 2010 Registry Mechanic. Registry Mechanic is a completely worthless program and I didn’t think I’d sign up to to re-screwed annually by PC Tools.
How can they get away with his crap?

You agreed to it some where in the T & C’s

Xbox 360’s Live membership does the same thing each year.
