Hey................

That all sounds a bit savage!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Try to fix the problem first. Most if not all viruses can be totally eliminated. hey, it's my job and i've never had to reformat ...... ever!!!!

1. Install and run AVG in safe mode (Remove useless Norton's first)

2. Download and run Spybot. Do it in Windows Safe mode.

3. If you know what the virus was, cotact me and i'll give you more
instructions. Some viruses remove the desktop, place warning messages everywhere and remove part of your Start menu. They need a little extra work.

4. Install and Run CCleaner in safe mode. Here's the trick - Most people only run the first option in CCleaner. (Clean) After you've done that, run the next option - Registry. Once you've run Registry, run it again, then again. That's right, 3 times in a row. Always run it 3 time in a row because some dud registry items hide others.

Note: Load all three programs first before running any of them and do the lot in safe mode.

Because you've removed the virus but are still having problems, the above steps will probably fix it. God help us, don't reformat. That's absolutely stupid at this stage. It'd like buying a new car because you've run out of gas.

Contact me. I'm here to help.

Or you can simply reformat the PC and keeping your files intact, simply at the installation choose Upgrade, which will preserve your files, and will fix the problems caused by the files. It's the best way to fix the problems, as was stated in the previous question, only formatting will fix the problem at 100%. Good Luck!
References :
I've done this more than ten times in less than 3 months recently.

Its not that simple. You won't get your lost files back, and you're not going to fix the registry with a few commands.

This is what you'll need to do:

1. Get all the data off that you absolutely need.
2. Completely reformat the drive (this will destroy everything, and make sure no traces of the virus are left).
3. Reinstall windows.

That's the only way you can guarantee that you have a clean, working system again.
